Supply Chain Director

Job Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

·         Lead the development and implementation of the Supply Chain Strategy of the Business Unit, aligned to the Corporate Objectives

·         Responsible for overall performance of supply chain function (including planning, procurement, logistics, warehousing, and customer services) within the business unit.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·                     To ensure the execution of Corporate Business Strategy consistent with shareholder aspirations and market leadership.

·                     To develop the Supply Chain Functional Strategy for the Business Group aligned with the long term business strategy. To ensure business unit functional strategies and plans are aligned with the Business Group strategy.

·                     To ensure execution of the Functional Strategy and Annual Plan. Management and control of Overhead Budgets for the Supply Chain Function within the Business Group.

·                     To ensure implementation of appropriate measures of Functional Performance for the Business Group’s Functional teams, in line with Corporate Supply Chain guidelines.

·                     To ensure standardization and consistency of Functional Policies, Systems and Controls for all supply chain operations across the businesses and geographies, in line with Corporate Supply Chain guidelines.

·                     To ensure determination and application of appropriate inventory norms for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods for the Business Group, in line with working capital goals and customer service objectives. To ensure consistent achievement of the same with the involvement of the Operations/Manufacturing teams as necessary.

·                     To ensure implementation of all relevant supply chain ERP modules/systems in the Business Group in line with expectations.

·                     To consistently drive excellence in all supply chain operations in the Business Group by continuous review of systems, processes, skills, infrastructure, and performance on key metrics against targets/benchmarks.

·                     To ensure global optimization of manufacturing/supply operations for the Business Group through a central planning cell, including evaluation of toll/contract manufacturing operations.

·                     To ensure global optimization of freight and logistics for the Business Group through a central freight and logistics cell, including all material movement and finished goods movement.

·                     To ensure delivery of excellence in customer satisfaction for the Business Group through a central customer services cell.

·                     To ensure global optimization of sourcing and procurement for the Business Group by working closely with the Central Purchase team to leverage available expertise. Together with Central Purchase, to define sourcing strategies for key items, including risk management/risk mitigation considerations- e.g. multiple-vendor sourcing.   

·                     To identify, set up, and manage toll/contract manufacturing arrangements for the Business Group as required.

·                     To review long term and annual supply chain plans of the Business Group, including outsourcing, external and internal capacities for manufacturing, warehousing and delivery and work with the business units to recommend corrective action, capex, etc.

·                     To monitor macroeconomic, political, and environmental/regulatory indicators and anticipate and plan for contingencies such as supply disruptions, price inflations, forex fluctuations, etc.

·                     To support Business Group SC Teams to develop appropriate Supply Chain, Warehousing and Transportation models, as relevant to the geography and in line with Corporate Supply Chain guidelines.

·                     To Collaborate with Business Group HR to source, recruit and develop a Talent pool. To coach & counsel the team for development, retention and succession.

·                     To be responsible for implementing Vision and Values of the Group in the Business Group.

Experience & Education

15-20 years FMCG experience in Supply Chain or Operations, preferably in the Foods & Beverages sector, of which at least the last 5 years should have been in a senior leadership position.Graduate (preferably Engineering) with an MBA or post-graduate degree in Operations Management from a reputed institution. Additional certification/qualification related to SCM will be an advantage.Track record of  strong strategic and people leadership, organisational development
